Self-drive: the default when you have wheels

I-15 North to exit 75, then the Valley of Fire Highway - about an hour from the Strip, the last stretch already scenic. Gate fee $10 per vehicle for Nevada plates, $15 out-of-state, cash or card at the booth. The connoisseur’s return: exit the east side onto Northshore Road through Lake Mead country - longer, emptier, and arguably better rock than some parks charge for. One 2026 practicality: the West Entrance is closed Monday- Thursday from early August for construction - those days, use the East Entrance and drive the park the other way. Fuel and cell coverage both end at the park boundary; arrive with a full tank and a downloaded map, and in summer treat the heat rules as part of the route.

There is no bus, no shuttle, no transit of any kind to Valley of Fire - and rideshare is a one-way trap: a driver may take you there, but nothing picks you up from a state park with patchy coverage. This is the rare case where “book a tour” is logistics, not marketing.
